Journey's End Farm
Years ago, the Winkler family
had an eleven acre farm in Fishkill, New York. It was crossed
by the Marcy South power lines and surrounded by farmland that
was being sold to become a housing development. When they found
their present farm in its protected, peaceful location they knew
they would not be crowded out again. The farm was aptly named
"Journey's End".
Ginny Winkler became interested
in the Connemara when she went to Greystone Farm and took a ride
with "Greystone Alex". He was everything she had been
looking for in a driving horse for herself. About 2 years later
she got a call from Mrs. Alexander. She had bred a Connemara
mare for a lady whose husband was in the service and together
they had to go overseas for about 2 years. The couple did not
want to sell the mare, so Mrs. Alexander called Ginny to see
if she wanted to lease the mare, train her to drive and keep
the foal. That was her start with Connemaras!
Ginny has been the American
Connemara Pony Society Region II Chairperson and is now on the
Board of Directors. She also is on the Tre Awain Halfbred Trophy
Committee, Arbitration Committee and Inspection Committee.
