Colville, Washington: Kelsie Stalhi wrote to say that they have two new boys at their Jolley Firline Farm. Kelsie says that both are adjusting to the snow that is a whole new thing for them. Tullymor's Mountain Sun arrived in January from May Medly’s in Georgia. He is by Tullymor's Mountain Shadow (Montully Sun X Aillte Muhire) x Tullymor's Kiss of Sun (Heyselden Persues x Bar Bar A Rebel Doll ). The second to arrive was their first foal of the year, a colt by Wildwych Strider born to Bien Mallin’s Legacy (Landgate Holy Smoke [by Tre Awain Dobh Mcduff] x Bar S Heather ) after 366 days. His pending name is JFL Rebel Master.

Harpursville, NY: Cindy Fletcher and Greystone Adirondak A’Hearne (* Rosenaharley Laurens X Hideaway's Smitheranne ) have had a new adventure….. it's a prelude to team penning called sorting. Cindy says, “ You and a partner move 10 numbered cows from one pen to another in numerical order as fast as you can. The usual time allowed is 90 seconds. In penning you would have 30 cows broken up into 10 groups of 3. You need to get all 3 of the same numbered cows across the line and into a pen within a specified time. Here's a site you can go to for the rules of penning and sorting. http://www.teampenamerica.com/rulebook.html All I can tell you is that it is a TON of fun and a good way to keep Harry active during the winter.”

It does look like fun!!

Harry...., this is a cow. You will learn to chase them.

Mom, you must be kidding!!!!!! I have to go in there with THEM????

Oh....., I think I'm getting it. You want me to chase the brown one.

Get moving little doggie....... you have to move faster than that!!!

WOW Mom, this is kinda fun. I said MOVE cows!!!!!!

Can I take a bite out of this one.....CAN I, CAN I, CAN I PLEASE?????!!!!!
No Harry, you CAN'T bite them. Only CHASE them.

I like these brown ones....... Where do you want them?

Gee Mom..... I was just starting to have some REAL fun. Do they have to go back in their pen NOW????? Yes, Harry. It's time to go home. We'll come back next week and play some more.

Bridgeport, New York: Renee Kosa wrote with an update on her pony, Fiona. Says Renee, “My parents bought Fiona for me in November 2006 as my Christmas present (of course, what every girl wants for Christmas!) She is a 14.2hh 7 1/2 year old half Connemara and half Standardbred, and she is my first and my only horse. I could write a whole book about our journey together and how amazing it feels to have such a strong bond with an animal like her. It's the little things she does that makes my heart melt, like nickering to me in her pasture, ignoring her food to spend time with me, following me around in the indoor, and putting her nose to my shoulder/face and moving her nose and lips back and forth. When I first got her, she was scared of many things and she didn't want anything to do with me. Now she trusts me to not hurt her, and if she's scared of anything, I just reassure her it's okay and she'll be fine, and she is more than willing to do anything I ask of her. She used to have major problems with going too fast under saddle, being nervous, and not getting her canter right. Now she is great about being round, slow, confident, and we are slowly but surely getting the canter way better. She is even starting to pick up the hand gallop! I wanted to share our story with you, because this pony means more than the world to me. I'm so grateful to have her in my life, and I'm hoping we will be together for a very, very long time. I have my own website and I am always putting new pictures on there for those who want to continue seeing her progress! http://www.piczo.com/reneequine. Lots of love and pony slobbers!
Renee Kosa & Wolfe Spring's Fiona”

Bloomfield, IN: Erin Lemrow of Willow Run Connemaras has announced that they have had their first foal of the year. It arrived on the first sunny day they have had. . . . .Said Erin, “Tre Awain Miss Muffett aka Maggie (Tre Awain Donoghoo X Maggy of Abbeyleix) delivered a gorgeous, BIG BOY early this morning. He is a lovely, shiny black with silver hairs throughout and I think will grey quickly. He is by Willow Boy (Chiltern Colm X Sillbridge Miranda). I am sooooooooooooooo excited, he is just a lovely handsome boy and Maggie is a wonderful Mum!“

Region V: Region V’s annual meeting will be held in Lexington Kentucky at Fonda Eigle’s home on March 15th. Lunch will be served at 11:30, followed by the meeting. We have moved the region show to South Farm in Middlefield Ohio. It will be on August 2nd and 3rd . We will also be holding an inspection on the 3rd in conjunction with the show. South Farm is a great facility and we are looking forward to having the show there. Cross country schooling will be available for an extra fee if anyone wants to take advantage of that opportunity. Fonda has agreed to continue as our show secretary, with Deb Busta being the show manager. Jill McNichol is the inspection site manager. Please contact either Jill or myself if you have ponies to nominate for inspections. We have reserved the Hoosier Horse Park for the weekend of October 11th, and plan a fun day or trail ride. A booth has been booked for us at the Equine Affair in Columbus Ohio for April 10th to the 13th. Jill and I will be managing the booth. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help with this endeavor should contact either Jill McNichol or myself. It’s a great opportunity to promote our Connemaras. The quarterly region newsletter is getting bigger and bigger. Thanks for sending your news in to Pat Reichle and Janice Meyer. Its fun to hear about everyone’s ponies. Sincerely, Mary Yeager, Chair
