New Braintree, MA: The reenactment of the 350th Anniversary of the Quabaug Plantation Historical Society's "Wheelers Surprise" took place June 13th in New Braintree Ma.. This event was witnessed by hundreds of spectators. Trum-Searah Farm provided eight horse and riders for the event. Three were Connemara's. The old fashion musket loaders blasted away and the Indians screamed.All the horse were cool and behaved very calmly. As in the original attack Captain Wheeler, portrayed by Kathy Trum-Searah, was wounded and shot from the horse. The Captains son, played by Michelle Kellicker, realizing his father was missing, returned to the battle to remount his father and escape. This battle was documented by Captain Wheeler. Other riders were Raymond Searah, Lisa Morrissey, Laurie Gagne, Kayla Fiske, Brittany Thibault and Emily Shields. Connemaras participating were Wild Acres Soulful Sturt born 7/10/98 (Kerrymor Madison X Tullymor's Cappuccino), and Get Met born 5/28/89 (Chiltern Colm X Lorien's Fen), both owned by Kathy Trum-Searah of Trum-Searaah Farm, New Braintree, Ma. The third Connemara was Irish Parks Royal Tara (Hideaway’s Sebastian X Glenmary Jenny Wren [half Welsh by Bobby Brown]) owned by Pat Shields of Dry Brook Farm, Harwinton, Ct.


Altoona, FL: Four Connnemaras competed at the July 11 Rocking Horse Stables Schooling Horse Trial. Balmullo’s Liffey Lad (Concord River Roaringwater Bay X Balmullo’s Miss Emma [by Aladdin]), owned by Donna Duckworth and ridden by Barbaba Beckford, and Balmullo’s Mr. Peeps (Concord River Roaringwater Bay X Tullymor’s Shandora [by Fieldstream Riley]), owned by Rylee and Rhonda Gailey and ridden by Rhonda, made their Horse Trial debuts in the Tadpole Division. They were joined in that division by Sparrow’s Cappucino (half-bred by Grange Finn Sparrow), an experienced eventer who has a new owner and rider. Liffey Lad earned his first eventing ribbon, a blue!! He had been in third after dressage but after clean stadium and cross country rounds, ended in first place. Mr. Peeps was third while Cappucino was eliminated in cross country. Barbara Beckford also rode her Balmullo’s Swamp Fox (Seven Hills Grey Ghost X Tullymor’s Heather Lass[by Montully Son]) aka Buddy in Beginner Novice.They finished in fifth after clean cross country and stadium rounds.
