Royalston, MA: Sally Oxnard and Christine Chatham attended an adult clinic at Seven Springs Farm on Sept 22 and 23. Seven Springs Farm is the home of Wendy Warner, a long time Connemara rider, breeder, and trainer. She owns Seven Springs Hidden Rush (Chiltern Colm x Hideaway's Smidgen [X Hideaway’s Erin Smithereen])who, although now a gelding, was a breeding stallion and has semen frozen. Sally writes,”Wendy has a gorgeous new facility and offers adult clinics which are real confidence builders for green riders and green ponies.” Sally was there with her 3 yo filly Tower Hill's Breeze, and Christine was riding Seven Springs Sayer's Web, a 4 year old halfbred owned by Wendy. In addition there were students of Wendy's riding her halfbreds. The clinic included ground work with rope halters aiming to help your pony bend and back up and give and move with the contact, and easy mounted exercises, and a relaxing hack over hill and dale. Says Sally, “A great time was had by all.”

Elbert, Co: Karen Laden of Kingswell Connemara Farm writes that *Smaragaid Cliff (Munkholm Cobbergate x Shamrock Bright Roxanne) was named Reserve Grand Champion Stallion of the 2007 Great American Insurance Group/USDF Breeders' Championship Series, Rocky Mountain Series Final, at the Colorado Horse Park on September 26. He also was named Champion Mature Stallion and Reserve Champion Mature Horse of the USDF Dressage Sport Horse Breeding Show on the same day.

Cliff qualified for the Rocky Mountain Dressage Society Mature Horse Championship, as well. But alas, two warmbloods were named champion and reserve champion of that show. Cliff was the only Connemara represented at the day-long USDF breed show. He is owned by Karen and was bred by Martina Ferfers of Smaragaid Connemaras in Germany.

Devon, Pa: Perenniel Devon winner, Pam Lidell, had the winning ponies again in the Connemara Class at the Devon Breed Show. Pam has had the first or second place pony for the three years that Connemara classes have been offered at Devon. Kynynmont Kerrigan (*Gunsmoke X Kynynmont Arianne) was the winner with Pam’s Kynynmont Moira (Ballywhim Sterling Moss [ X *Rocky] X Greystone Erin Moireen), last year’s winner, was in second. Third place went to the imported Hohnhorst Madeline ( Patty's Benedict X Norlund's Madigan). She is owned by Nicole Haas-Perrin.

Spruce Grove, Abta, Canada: Jocelyn Davies of Devon Ridge Farm writes, “This past weekend was quite eventful... Bantry Bay Dillon (Bantry Bay’s Ace [Springledge Bantry Bay X Tullyglen Truffles] X Concord River Minute Maid [Hideaway’s Erin Smithereen X Lynnfields Proud Hope]) was at Dressage Provincial & Regional Championships in Red Deer. I was very proud of him as he performed and behaved very well. He received many 8's for his movement and one 9 for his walk on one of his tests. His tests were in the 69 - 73% range all weekend. His overall placing was 3rd overall against some very nice horses... He was the only pony in his division. All in all, it was a super weekend!”

Pomfret, Conn: Caroline McEvitt spent a beautiful Sunday on the Ride for the Cure, which she completed with her Connemara half-bred, Crib Glas Mandolin, a 6-year old sired by Bobby Brown. The 2 hour ride was held at the lovely Tyrone Farm in Pomfret amongst the beautiful forests and farmland of eastern Connecticut. There were about 100 riders that participated in the ride to raise money for breast cancer research. Carolyn says, " Together, my teammate, Meg Brauch, and I raised nearly $2000 for the cause. Mandy was exceptional and thoroughly enjoyed being out in the open countryside with her Morgan partner, another 6-year old. Mandy turned heads everywhere she went and people were continually asking me her breed and telling me what a lovely horse she was. She certainly made me proud to be a Connemara owner and was the perfect mount for such a worthy cause!"
