  • Donated by Catherine Mack and Sue Smith in 1987 in memory of Ann Gascoyne
  • Awarded to honor a person's unselfish love, dedication, and long term service on the behalf of the Connemara
  • Must have been a member of the ACPS for 10 years
  • Given to individuals who spend a lot of time and energy promoting the Connemara
  • Recipient selected by August 1 and notified in early August
 

ACPS Achievement Awards

Multidiscipline Lifetime Cumulative Points at recognized and unrecognized shows

  • To encourage and reward Purebred and Halfbred Connemaras for participating successfully in a variety of disciplines.
  • Certificates of Achievement, Bronze, Silver and Gold Medallions shall be awarded each year to ponies that meet the requirements for excellence in a variety of competitive and non-competitive disciplines.
  • Points in each discipline shall be accumulated over the LIFETIME of the pony, or until it receives the Award of Excellence, the final level in the program.
  • Winners shall be announced on the ACPS website and in the American Connemara Magazine.
  • Pony must be registered with the ACPS.
  • Owner must be a member of the ACPS (Rider may or may not be).
  • Achievement Awards form must be signed by the show secretary at every competition, or a signed dressage test will do. If the scores are published somewhere they can be printed/copied and attached and sent with the application
  • Points must be submitted by December 31 of the year they were earned.
  • Achievement Awards forms are sent to the Achievement Awards Leader.
 

Scholarships

1) Junior: To recognize Junior Connemara riders and encourage them to pursue continuing educational activities with their Connemaras. Winners of the scholarships shall be awarded $200. Second place shall be awarded $100. All remaining applications which are worthy of Honorable Mention shall receive $25 each. Policies:

  • Applicants shall be current individual or family members of the ACPS.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or under as of January 1st of the application year.
  • The Connemara purebred or halfbred must be registered with the ACPS but does not have to be owned by the rider.
  • The application must include the full registered name and registration number of the horse.
  • If awarded, funds must be used to further the equestrian education of the horse and/or rider.
  • Applications may continue to be made in subsequent years.
 
2) Senior: To recognize adult Connemara riders and encourage them to pursue continuing educational activities with their Connemaras and for the benefit of the ACPS. Winners of the scholarships shall be awarded $200. Second place shall be awarded $100. Policies:
  • Applicants must be current individual or family members of the ACPS.
  • Applicants must be at least 19 years of age on January 1st of the application year.
  • The purebred or halfbred Connemara must be registered with the ACPS but does not have to be owned by the rider.
  • The applications must include the full registered name and registration number of the horse.
  • If awarded, funds must be used to further the equestrian education of the horse and/or rider.
  • Applications may continue to be made in subsequent years.
  • Benefit to the ACPS will be considered.
 
3) Debbie Busta Adult Amateur Eventing Award: To recognize Adult Amateur riders of Connemaras who are competing in Eventing. To recognize the spirit of volunteerism in the equestrian world which Deb Busta epitomized. To encourage riders to pursue continuing educational activities with their Connemaras Winners of the scholarship shall be awarded $300. Second place shall be awarded $100. (Annually, Michael Busta, Deb’ s husband, will be given the opportunity to provide matching funds for this Scholarship Award. ) Policies:
  • Applicants must be current individual or family members of the ACPS.
  • Applicants must be at least 19 years of age on January 1st of the application year.
  • The purebred or halfbred Connemara must be registered with the ACPS but does not have to be owned by the rider.
  • The applications must include the full registered name and registration number of the horse.
  • Horse/pony does not have to compete under his full registered name.
  • If awarded, funds must be used to further the equestrian education of the horse and/or rider.
  • Applications may continue to be made in subsequent years.
