The American Connemara Pony Society has accepted an invitation to show off our ponies during the Breed Demonstrations taking place in conjunction with this year’s Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event, April  26-29 in Lexington, Kentucky. 2018 marks the 40th Anniversary of this premier Event and 20 years since being elevated to the only 4* in the country. Attendance numbers in 2017 were 80,000.

Following suggestions from Marynell Eyles and Megan Harris, Region V members made the necessary contacts. Jan Whitehouse, with Equine Events, remembers the Connemaras from World Equestrians Games! They are happy to accommodate us.

The offer is for stalls for four ponies. Within a few hour of announcing the opportunity among a small group of us, we had commitments from four regional Connemara pony owners and riders and several  others willing to stand in on short notice. Our pony demonstrators will be Elliott Timmons, Nora Goldfarb, Katherine Short, and Chandra Nielson. Demonstration times are Thursday 3:30 pm, Friday 10:30 am and Saturday 1:30 pm. Each group demo will run for thirty minutes and take place in the centrally located Walnut Ring.

Participating members will receive complimentary general admission and parking. All other expenses will be their own. ACPS will receive a half page ad in the official program. If you are planning to attend please wear your ACPS gear and join us to cheer on the ponies, pass out magazines and talk it up with the audience as we promote our beloved and versatile Connemara breed. Members interested in participating in the future, should we be invited again, can submit your pony’s name and information to the Region V secretary Fonda Eigel.

In addition, Region V member Steph Burk will be hosting a lunchtime gathering on Saturday, Cross Country Day, at her Tailgate spot on course. Tailgate site number will be announced on the Region V Facebook page when it becomes available. Bring your picnic  or just stop by to say hello. Hope to see you there!
